We used it to feed him, Then his legs were getting stunk in the holes when I tried to get him out as he got older. We probably started using this at 3 months and stopped using around 6-7 months . I got mine at a consignment shop. Easy to wipe down.
Maybe I'm missing something since this has glowing reviews, but we found that this wasn't all that necessary, and had a very short usability window.
The leg openings are very small so it was hard to get our not very chunky baby in and out of it. We ended up using the Boppy or our laps to help him learn to sit. We did use it for introducing solids since he still seemed too little for the high chair. All in all, its nice but not necessary.
I loved having one of these around for my daughter when she was first learning to sit up. These are great for babies who don't like to just lay on the floor. This way they can sit up and see everything. I also used this to feed my daughter in when she was younger before we got a high chair. It was convenient and I was able to sit on the floor comfortably to feed her.
I was so excited when my son was able to start sitting in his bumbo. We bought the extra tray for his toys. I velcroed a few to the surface so he couldn't throw them off while he was playing. He loved being able to sit up supported until he learned to sit on his own. We even started solids with him in the bumbo, since he didn't want to be restrained in the high chair. I recommend it for everyone!
This is a great product. My kids started using it around 3 months. It really helped with neck strength. The both had chunky legs so it kind of stuck to their legs. We like it a lot but it is not a product that is used for very long so we used hand me downs. This worked great and saved us money. We passed ours on between kids and then got them back for number two.
These work really well for babies who can sit up but aren't stable. I loved having one, but don't know if it's an absolute necessity for anyone. Babies can only sit in it for about a month or two before they don't want to be stuck in one spot. Overall though, this is a great seat!
The Bumbo was so helpful to my little guy when he wanted to sit up but couldnt without help. The Bumbo also helped me by providing a safe place for my little one to sit without mommy having to make sure he didnt fall.
This seat is truly genius. It's great for that in-between stage when babies are starting to get interested in everything going on around them, but aren't able to sit up and look around on their own yet. It saves them (and parents) so much frustration and crankiness! The separate tray you can buy for it is really useful, as well-- great for toys or using as a portable high chair.
I never had one of these with my first but it was such a lifesaver with my most recent two. It was easy to take around and worked great as an impromptu booster seat/highchair and dinners. it also was a wonderful way to get the baby up off the floor and out of the way of the toddlers, while also allowing them a new view. It holds up wonderfully and was such a great, great product!
This worked great for my baby when she was at the point where she could hold her head up! It's really sturdy, and does not tip over when they lean over! I recommend buying the tray for it as well, as it makes a great high chair on the go!
We used & still use a bumbo with my 11 month old son when I feed him. We do not have a high chair yet, so this does the job well for now (although he's started to learn if he leans far enough to one side, he can tip himself out of it!) We have the tray that snaps on to the bumbo so he's able to feed himself finger foods well in this. He never really fancied me just sitting him in it so he could play because he learned to sit up and hold himself up pretty quickly. Either way, I still think we got our money's worth just using it as a temporary high chair until we decide on one that we want for our home. I didn't register for this gift but I'm glad it was gifted to me, don't be like me & think you "won't use it" - you will!
This is a must have for a baby just learning to sit. He could sit in it himself and look around and see everything, rather then laying down where he would get frustrated not being able to see everything. This was also light enough to grab on the go... We took it everywhere with us. We got the tray table that attaches and it became a high chair when we were camping, at my parents, my inlaws, vacation, etc. It was also great for when I was sitting on the floor playing with him. It was hard to play while keeping him from falling backwards or if he was leaning on me so I could put him in his Bumbo and sit on the floor with him and it was so much fun! I could play with him and see all his adorable faces! :) My son loved it. Recommend it.
Have this and the Lionheart one and we prefer the Bumbo for its comfortable foam and wider base for our chubby one. The base seems wider too so when he tends to try to get out of the Lionheart seat, it tips over, but with this one the seat doesn't move at all. Cleaning up the food messes area breeze since the seat is one piece. The weight is perfect with it being not too heavy nor too light.
