We got this carseat as part of the travel system in 2010 for the birth of our 1st daughter. it holds up to 30lbs so we used it until she was 1 & only switched because she got too tall (weight wise she's a peanut & would still be in it as she is 19mos & 22lbs!). Easy to get in & out of base, easily snaps into the stroller as well as the Snap & Go we have. Easy to carry as well. The only downfall to this seat is that it does not have the notches in it to put it in the front of a shopping cart so you have to put it in the big part of a shopping cart which takes up most of your room for items you'd be buying at the market:/ I didn't realize this when I bought it but overall I love it & would still recommend to anyone.
This car seat has great support for an infant and is at the perfect angle. It is easy to install and easy to get in and out of the car. I have tried several other comparable brands and this out beats them all.
We have twin girls and we loved the Chicco Key Fit 30. The newborn inserts were great when they were first born, because they were only 5.5 poinds. Love that the seats click into the base with one snap. My only complaint is that the straps can get twisted now and then, but it's pretty easy to fix. I chose this car seat because of the high safety ratings, and I would definitely recommend to a friend!
We chose this car seat because it came highly rated on Consumer Reports. I had further ease of mind when I had the local police department check my installation and they commented that it was a very safe seat.
I've never used another car seat so I don't know if these are unique to Chicco or not, but I have a few suggestions that will make it better:
- The restraint straps are just *this much* too short to shove between the handle and the seat to keep them out of the way when you are putting the baby in the seat. If they came out just a half inch more you could pin them out of the way and not have to hunt for them under your baby's bum.
- The sun shade isn't long enough to do much good. A parent in my new baby group took his to a tailor and had them add another panel to the sunshade to make it longer and now it actually works to shield his child from sun that isn't on the horizon and behind her.
- The decorative piping behind the child's head seems like it would be uncomfortable. When we used it with the Keyfit stroller when my child was an infant he would have a line across the back of his head where the piping pushed into it.
- The carrying bar makes a very loud click when you pull it up or push it down which means that if you have a finally sleeping child, they will wake up the minute you try and take them in the house.
We love this car seat. We did a lot of research prior to purchasing this product. We have found that it is very comfortable for our child. It has a great infant insert in it to fit your child right after he/she is born. (Remember to take this out once the baby hits 11 pounds.) This car seat is very easy to install and to transfer from vehicle to vehicle if you need to do so. There is a level in the base so you can make sure you have installed it properly. It also fits great into a stroller (we have a BOB with the Chicco carseat bar.).
Our Chicco Keyfit 30 has now been used with each of our daughters. It is easy to adjust, easy to install, and best of all I felt like my babies where safe in it. I have never seen an infant car seat to match this one. Worth the extra $$ if you can spend it. Can not say enough good things about this car seat. Cant think of a bad thing to about it.
The Chicco Keyfit system is very easy to read and use. Love the level indicator on the side of the base to make sure you have your base installed correctly for your vehicle. The seat then just snaps right in and you are ready to go.
