Summer Infant Day and Night Video Monitor

I love this monitor. The picture quality is great and although the monitor is bulky, I like it that the baby is easier to see. There's no real set-up so it's easy to move it from room to room if necessary. I was using a sound only monitor before and would rush into the room whenever I heard crying. Me going into the room woke the baby up and it would then take another hour before he'd fall asleep again. With the monitor I can see that he was still sleeping but crying in his sleep. I could observe him first and go in if I saw that he really needed me. This monitor has definitely saved me some hours in sleep. It's also wonderful to see your baby sleep or do independent things without your disturbing him. There are some negatives though. With the volume turned up, you do pick up some static which can get a little annoying. The other negative is that since it's not digital, you can pick up other signals. My husband and I just make sure we never said anything personal while the monitor was on.

This monitor was a life saver when I put my daughter in her crib for the first time. She had acid reflux bad and slept in her bassinet in my room for the first three months so I could insure she would not choke in her sleep. Once I wen't back to work I got this monitor so I could see baby without getting out of bed. This monitor is great for that purpose! I turn the sound off and all I have to do when I wake is look at the night stand and I can see baby peacefully sleeping. The only complaint is the worry I experienced when I read the recall on certain models due to the interferance and the possibility that others could see your baby on the monitor. Summer did a recall and will replace any of those models with the newer version that is not supposd to do that (I have never experienced this). Thankfully I did not have a model that was recalled.

I love our monitor, it saved me a lot of sleepless nights when we first put him in his own bedroom after we were done co-sleeping. Works wonderfully, HOWEVER, one time I did not have the monitor switched on in his room and turned my video portion on, I was horrified to see another baby! It was straight out of a scary movie, I am somewhat bothered by the fact that others nearby could be watching my baby sleep. That being said, we still use this daily, I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have 2 of these for each of my kids. They work fine- I have them on separate channels so I can use the same receiver and just switch back and forth (they are in the same room so I only need sound from one). This was a lifesaver when we were sleep training.

I knocked off one star because my neighbor recently had a baby and we gifted them one, well sometimes we get a bit of interference and I can see their child, I'm sure the same thing happens to them and they can see/hear our kids too- thats kind of creepy :(.
